Before any data, we pin down the decision you are actually trying to make, and how we will both know the answer is right. Half of bad analysis is a clean answer to the wrong question.

Then the craft: clean the data, build the pipeline, fit the model or run the test, and check the working at every stage. Every figure ends up traceable to where it came from.
